About Phileo

The name of our foundation is “Stichting Phileo”. (‘Stichting’ = foundation) Phileo is a Greek word that is used in the Bible in connection to the word ‘love’. The word means about the same as ‘Agape’ which stands for the unconditional love of God. Phileo love in general is seen more as the love among christians. So basically the brotherly love, made possible by the love that is given to us by Christ.

We would like to express with this that we act based on the love of Christ, and look after the people in Poland that can use some help.

We do this from the relation we have build with the churches and people in Poland, zo help can be continued at the moment that we will have to leave and go back to the Netherlands.

The help that we to give can be anything. From food and clothing, to care, companionship to whatever you can think off. We will try to provide anything that is needed and which lies within our possibilities.

In all situations we will try to help based on a relation because we believe that works out better in the end. This can be a personal relation with us in the Netherlands (if possible) but also with the people we know in Poland.

The board of the foundation Phileo

The formal board of the foundation Phileo has 3 members.

Each has their own legal role, being chairman, treasurer and secretary.

Björn Christoffersen
Chairman

Björn has already been involved in the work in Poland since 2010. Because of that he travels to Poland about 2-3 times a year. He is the one who is usually in charge in the various trips to Poland, and acts as a single point of contact in Poland and the Netherlands.

Hans Veen
Treasurer

Hans is involved in the work in Poland since 2011. He has been there several times now.
As the treasurer he makes sure that all funds of the foundation are going to the right projects, and that all accounting is done correctly.

Geanne van de Vrie-Stellingwerff
Secretary

Geanne is involved in the work in Poland since 2011. She has been there several times now.
As secretary she takes care off all administrative tasks, and takes care of information requests from people.

The board of the foundation has been appointed for an indefinite period. The members of the board are all active members in three different churches. In this way we try to neutralize the influence of one single church as much as possible, and to be as independent as possible. The executive board of the foundation consists of six members. These are the previously mentioned three formal board members with their partners.

Fee’s and expenses

The board and volunteers in foundation Phileo are not receiving any fee for their services. They do this work entirely voluntary and without expecting anything in return.

Also no expenses are compensated for trips to Poland. These costs are payed by the volunteer itself, or is being payed by the travelling group.

In this way there is the largest possible portion of all donations actually go to charity. Our goal is 100%.
